Great Bend, Kansas is a charming city located in the heart of the state. It is the county seat of Barton County with a population of 16,000. Great Bend is known for its rich history, natural scenery, and vibrant community. Its location on the banks of the Arkansas River has played a significant role in the city’s history and development. Being right on the river has allowed for many businesses to come in and succeed. Great Bend also offers a number of landmarks and attractions. One of the most notable landmarks is the Great Bend Brit Spaugh Zoo, which houses a variety of exotic animals. It is also home to the Barton County Historical Society Museum and Village, which houses a large collection of artifacts and exhibits that showcase the history of the area, including Native American culture.

Great Bend is also home to many parks and recreational areas, including the Cheyenne Bottoms Wildlife Area, which is the largest marshes in the interior of the United States. You can take tours of the Wetlands and take part in many other fun activities. These great outdoor areas make the town a beautiful place for outdoor enthusiasts. One of the biggest hotspots for the town today is the Dry Lake Brewery located downtown. Another fun seasonal activity is Great Bend Alive, where the city partners with local vendors and puts on live music, games, and has food and drinks on Friday nights. Great Bend’s beautiful scenery and growing community make it a wonderful place for anyone to live and work.
